Anne J. Chalmers


As she works to protect people and communities, the company and its partners in a complex global environment, Anne Chalmers is guided by a passion for different cultures and the sharing of information and ideas.

Anne plans and oversees Teck Resources’ overall risk management, risk assessment, crisis management, security, loss prevention and global insurance programs including captive insurance companies. She is also Chair, Materials Stewardship Committee, tasked with minimizing environmental and health and safety risks. In 2005, she received Teck’s CEO Award for her leadership in the Historical Insurance Recovery, which impacted Teck’s financial results by over $100 million.

An executive member of FM Global Insurance Company’s Risk Management Council, a Member of the Board of Oil Casualty Insurance Company (Bermuda), and of the Board of Insurance Mining Group, Anne also sits on the Oil Casualty Insurance Company Risk Management Committee, and is an Executive Member, FM Global Insurance Company’s Risk Management Executive Council. Heavily involved in the Risk Management Society, she holds designations in a number of industry and academic organizations (including the Banff School of Management), is in demand as an international conference speaker; and often approached by other companies to help with their risk and security issues.

Committed to social issues of poverty and human rights, Anne actively supports Teck’s charitable activities, and was Vice President of the non-profit Street Angels Society that works to educate and develop entrepreneurial skills amongst underprivileged children and their families in Dona Aurora, Brazil. She is also a Director for the Stand Foundation, which fundraises for scholarships for vulnerable young adults in Vancouver.
