Thanks to a generous grant by the STAND Foundation, William Vallejo, a Grade 12 student at Van Tech is going to be able to pursue his dream of becoming a professional cook. Thanks to the STAND Foundation, one of Van Tech’s busy volunteers will get a chance to take her business and organizing talents to a whole new level at Langara. Elaine Chuong is the latest recipient of a STAND Foundation grant of $4,393. The award will go a long way to helping the graduating Grade 12 student cultivate business and sales skills she’s honed over the years as a leader of her school’s Variety Club. When Marcus Pham fell asleep in his classes at Van Tech, he says the hardest thing for him was the misunderstanding that he was lazy. Instead, Pham says he was bone weary after working 30 hours a week at MacDonald’s. The long hours he was stacking up in his part-time (sort of) job was making focusing in class nearly impossible.
